'Rosco' Wilson - R.I.P.
It is with great sadness that the committee and many members of the
Perth Blues Club learnt of the passing of Ross Leslie Wilson, better known as "Rosco", who died peacefully in
his sleep at 2am Thursday 10 April.
All are welcome to attend a short service and wake at 3pm at the Perth Blues Club, in the back room of the Charles
Hotel, next Wednesday 16 April.
The funeral directors will bring the coffin to the Charles in the
afternoon for the service and then we will have the wake.
Music will be provided by the Bob Patient Band and guests.
Rosco had been involved in the Perth music scene for almost 20
years as a roadie, sound and lighting operator. He had been
involved with the Perth Blues Club from its inception over 16 years ago
and was one of only six life members of the Club. He was always a
much treasured asset to the Club and a great
friend to many.
For the past year or so, Rosco had been undergoing
treatment for cancer.
John Chopping, one of the founding fathers of the
Club, had this to say:
"Rosco knew the end was coming, and so did we all, but it really doesn't make
it any easier. He was one of a handful of true believers in the concept of the blues
club.
"He was there from the beginning and he must have been proud to see it
develop over the years from the fledgling jam session to the professional
shows still going on every Tuesday.
"The death of the flesh is always a time for grieving, but Rosco will always be
remembered in the hearts and minds of the collective blues community."
R.I.P Rosco, 1947-2008

Reviews
Many of you who visit the website regularly will have noticed that
we've not had any reviews of receny gigs. Unfortunately, our volunteer
reviewer Katy has increasing work committments and is unable to
contiune writing for us.
We put our a request for reviewers but have not yet found anyone. The job would be ideal for journalism students and we would be happy to have a team of reviewers who could work in rotation.
If you are interested (or know of anyone who might be willing to help) please contact us.
In the meantime, we hope you
continue to enjoy the excellent photographs take each week by our
volunteer photographer Jason. You can view Jason's work in the Photo Gallery.
