Peel Estate Wines, in Karnup is hosting a Family Blues and Roots Day on Sunday 11 March from 11am-5pm.

Bring a picnic rug, deckchair or sunshade and enjoy an afternoon of outstanding live music from some of WA’s best Blues artists in the beautiful shady surrounds of Peel Estate Wines. Entertaining you will be: Mike de Velta; Pete Romano & Mark Constable;  Andrew 'Walter' Morgan; and John Meyer's Blues Express. What better way to enjoy a Sunday in autumn.

Food, hot and cold drinks, ice creams and the full range of Peel Estate wines will be available on the day. BYO food and drink is allowed, but strictly no BYO spirits or wine.

Tickets are priced at $20, but Perth Blues Club members, families and friends can obtain a 20% pre-sale discount, making the ticket cost just $16! To purchase the tickets, please contact the winery on (08) 9524 1221 and make sure to mention Perth Blues Club to receive your discount. Tickets purchased by Tuesday 28 February will be mailed out. After that date, tickets can be collected at the gate. The final deadline for advanced sales is Friday 9 March.

A PBC favourite, Pugsley Buzzard is a piano player and singer with a distinctive sound. He plays funky New Orleans
style grooves, barrelhouse blues, stride, boogie, and some modern stylings mixed in all together forming a mindblowing
gumbo of sound oozing with tantalizing improvisation. Imbibe!

Pugsley Buzzard Trio will be supported by Daniel Champagne and Moonshine Sugar.

Since the late sixties, Chain has been the most influential blues/rock band in Australia. They have put an indelible stamp of an Australian style on blues music that no other act has done.

Although they individually and collectively learnt the music of the American greats and were influenced by the British blues of the sixties, they interpreted blues in a way no one had done before… and they were different in other ways too!

Their chart success in 1971 was generated by their following, not a record company push. They became known for their dedication to original music and were, in a sense, a reaction to the mindless copying of overseas acts that so many Australian bands indulged in at the time.

For more than the past decade, the lineup of Matt Taylor, Phil Manning, Barry Harvey and Dirk Dubois (bass)has been a constant one. Matt Taylor continues to front Chain in his entertaining laconic style, and collectively the band has the relaxed cohesion that comes from a lifetime of playing.

They are still as original as ever and are credited with establishing ‘Oz Blues’ as a bonafide stylistic variation of its American father.

Chain will play two sets and will be supported by Benny Walker.
