The Shinkickers have been on the Perth music scene for the past 10 years. The ongoing project of well known performers Gerry Quigley (guitars, mandolin) and Terry Pugh (organ, piano, synthesizer), the band now features the best line up to date, with Paul Daly (vocals, harmonica, percussion), Roy Daniel (bass) and Ace Follington (drums) rounding out the band.
Powerful, dynamic and experienced, the band are definitely worth catching. So if you are in town, see them at the Perth Blues Club; they are pure musical talent. and a really great bunch of guys.
Isabel Quigley is a virtual veteran of the Perth singer/songwriter scene at only 23. Well known to many Perth punters as the charismatic and much loved presenter and performer at the Indi Bar open mic night in Scarborough - which she has helped build into an institution since taking the reins in 2004, Isabel's poignant writing is awash with glimpses of her own Celtic heritage whilst tipping its hat to blues and folk influences with the odd sprinkling of rock thrown in - she cites Joni Mitchell, Billie Holiday, Clannad & Thin Lizzy amongst others as influences. This is a girl definitely due to be discovered
Well known to the Perth Blues Club and making a welcome return in 2008 are the Lovebites, with Phil Bennett on vocals & piano, Kevin Rooney on drums and Sam Musca on slide guitar.
