Journey Through the Blues

Featuring:

  • Featuring Pete Romano and band - a history of the blues performed by local artists

Tickets Tickets $10.00 / members $5.00

Take a journey through the blues starting with the spine-tingling work songs of the American South and the Delta Blues. The origins of the rhythms and soul of blues started with the field workers and chain gangs drawing on their African roots and the old-time traditions of the hills country.

In the second set Louisiana Blues and the unique sounds from the Bayou lead to the more urban and complex Chicago blues. Together these influences have given us the contemporary blues of today which has flourished across the world continuing to reflect the sounds and mood of the electric '70s and the new millennium.

Blues players from Perth band together to celebrate the different styles of blues and their interpretation of Blues in Australia. Among the players are Marc Gordon, (guitar) John Wilson, (bass), Bill Rogers and Wayne Freer (brass), Bob Patient (keyboard) Pete Romano, (vocals) Marc Constable (blues harp). This is a night not to be missed for blues and roots music devotees.
