The Groovesmiths are a gang of musical Banditos. Their dedication to their instruments has seen them emerge outside the boundaries taking the genre of roots music to a different level. Musically living on the edge the Groovesmiths are fast gaining a reputation as a band to have a good old ass shakin’ boogy with. Gavin Shoesmith, originally a Freo boy in his last life as bass player for a well known band (of which could be said, ‘help kick-start the roots movement in Australia’), founded the Groovesmiths in Darwin. Joining Shoesmith (vocals, bass, lap steel bass and harmonica) are two of WA's up and coming musicians; Alex Dew on electric guitar and Matt Wright on drums. The Groovesmiths takes the traditional roots music formula and gives the rhythm section a healthy new energy boost. On stage 9.45pm Blue Shaddy is a high energy live act who are always festival favourites. Renowned for squeezing every last drop of energy into every performance 2007 has been their most in-demand year to date, The Blue Shaddy sound has often been described as modern blues/roots/surf/funk, combining numerous acoustic/electric and lap-slide guitars, groove bass, harmonica, Sri Lankan and Indian percussion and drums. Live highlights include acoustic guitars mimicking didgeridoos, drum and percussion breaks and a solo from one of the world’s fastest harmonica players. To date Blue Shaddy have three albums independently released and are receiving airplay around the world on community and college stations. Their last album, Walk A Mile, reached number 1 on the Perth Indie Charts in May of this year. Their fourth album is due to be released soon. On stage at 11pm. At 15, Toby became the front-woman of her first band. Her first performance was in front of an audience of 600 people at the Octagon Theatre, UWA. From the moment she received her first standing ovation, she was hooked. Music and the stage were to become Toby's life. Since then, "Toby" have become one of WA's top performing bands - touring extensively throughout WA and also on the east coast, Canada, UK and Switzerland. They've performed at every top festival in WA, and also produced five CDs Indi -Live On The West Coast, GiddyUp, On Second Thoughts, Renaissance and the most recent, Tu Es Belle. Toby plays in a variety of formats and tonight it will be as a duo. On stage 8.30pm Coming soon:
