Tickets $10/$5 PBC Members Jan Preston, Kiwi expat, is recognised as one of Australia`s leading female blues/jazz artists. Jan's unique ability lies not only in her exceptional talent as a piano player, singer and songwriter, but also as an entertainer, and her mastery of boogie woogie piano leaves audiences in raptures. She has won three Best Female Blues Artists Awards and was the winner of the 2003 Sydney Blues Performer of the Year. Jan is also hugely popular on the festival circuit in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Jan has just returned from her third successful performing tour of Europe, where she is being embraced onto the large Boogie piano circuit. particularly in Germany and France. One of the highlights of her 2007 tour was playing on the main stage at the Festival Blues En Vo, in Paris. Whilst doing 12 shows to capacity filled rooms she also managed to find the time in Berlin to record a new CD, with the best known swing drummer in Europe, Michael Maass. This CD will be released early 2008. Jan is already booked into 3 festivals in Europe for 2008. audiences delighting in the unusual addition of a female player from Down Under. On stage at 9.45pm.
Well-known local blues guitarist and proprietor of the Perth based guitar store “The Rock Inn”, Andrew McIlroy established the band in mid-2005. He then looked outside the circle of established blues performers and asked Alan Dawson, long-time acquaintance and owner of Witzend Recording Studios Fremantle, to join him on bass guitar with Gavin Kerr, a well respected drummer from the Perth Jazz scene, to form the trio. The band has a growing list of original songs as well as covers material from The Animals, The Blues Band, John Mayall, Eric Clapton/Cream, The Rolling Stones, Garry Moore and many other great British Blues artists. Make no mistake, this is a traditional Blues Power Trio with a great selection of up-tempo blues. On stage at 11pm.
Storme is an experienced and powerful singer, songwriter and guitarist, and a Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts graduate. Her second album, Images of Reality, shows influences from Sarah Mc Laughlan with her angelic harmonising, and captivating moments, a hint of Bonnie Rait's cool yet blues and country/rock based structures, and for those with a keen ear, the subtle yet intriguing cool blue sounds of Rickie Lee Jones. Now combined with her third release, Gone to Freedom, she presents passionate yet serious vocals with an attitude to encompass and satisfy the listener. On stage at 8.30pm Coming soon:
