Tickets Tickets $10.00 / members $5.00 John Meyer’s Blues Express - from playing on his father's guitar to Rose Tattoo to successful solo career, John Meyer has always been about the blues. John remembers the time at age 14 when he plugged his guitar into his father's amp and fell in love with the sound it made. Two years later, he was playing in a band on the pub circuit, despite being too young to drink. By age 22 he was one of Australia’s most sought after guitarists, playing with the likes of Rose Tattoo, Swanee, Sharon O’Neill and Perth bands Fatty Lumpkin, Bakery and Saracen. Later he worked with Chain until the early 1990’s before leaving to build his recording studio. John started teaching and wrote and produced jingles and documentary soundtracks. During this time he also worked on his second instrumental album “The Shaman.” In recent years John has returned to the live show circuit with his rock blues band Blues Express, which features Peter Oates on bass/vocals and Ric Eastman on drums. It’s a very welcome return. Kat Kinley started her musical career playing classical piano, which got her into The WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She then changed to jazz vocals, which, she says, got her nowhere. However, her music is influenced by both these genres as well as country, funk, blues & pop. The result is very much her own sound. Kat feels she doesn't fit into a genre box and some people find that difficult to take. She named her album Company not just because one of the tracks on the album is titled same, but because the company she keeps is so contrasting in their respective tastes in music, it's refreshing to know that styles can come together in appreciation - hence the album being so varied. Mike Beale, the guitarist and vocalist from local outfit Men In Blues, kicks off proceedings for the night from 8.30pm. Coming soon:
