Andrea Marr Band, Deja Blu & Dr Watson Print E-mail
Sunday, 16 December 2007

andrea_marr_band_72dpi.jpg On January 8th, we're please to be able to present the Andrea Marr Band from Melbourne. This five-piece, high energy band, headed up by Andrea on vocals, comprises Greg Dodd on guitar, Ken Maling on sax, Clint Healy on bass and Dean Matters on drums, and promises to deliver a set of gutsy blues.

Check out the detailed profile in our Gig Guide.

dr_watson_72dpi.jpg Opening for the Andrea Marr band will be Dr Watson, a three-piece cruisy blues band from Sydney, NSW, with many years of combined musical experience.

Dr. Watson play their own unique version of acoustic-based blues and jazz. Their new CD Isn't she Blessed showcases some of their original songs as well as refreshingly original versions of a couple of standards.

Recently reunited, the trio have found that their musical interests have evolved and matured to embrace jazz, blues and folk music. Yes, they are still playing Smoke on the Water, but not as we know it!

deja_blu50_72dpi.jpgWrapping up the evening's entertainment will be Perth band Deja Blu, whose brand of blues that sits loosely under the heading of 'Electric Gospel Blues' and could even be categorised as a fusion of 'New Orleans' and 'Chicago Blues'.

So don't miss what promises to be another great night of blues at your very own Perth Blues Club.

Blues Quotes

“But between sets I'd sneak over to the black places to hear blues musicians. It got to the point where I was making my living at white clubs and having my fun at the other places.”

-- Stevie Ray Vaughan
