A large gathering of members, non-members, family and friends joined the cream of Perth's blues musicians to farewell Ross "Rosco" Wilson at the Perth Blues Club on the afternoon of Wednesday 16th April. Rosco had been involved in the Perth music scene for almost 20 years as a roadie, sound and lighting operator. He had been involved with the Perth Blues Club from its inception over 16 years ago and was one of only six life members of the Club. He was always a much treasured asset to the Club and a great friend to many.

Rosco's coffin was decked with flowers, his favourite cut-off jacket, his hat and boots and surrounded by photographs, candles and a sketch portrait by one of the club members. After a short service, where family and friends spoke about the memories of Rosco, Rick Steele and band led the gathering in singing one of Rosco's favourite songs "Forever Young". The coffin was escorted to the hearse by senior members of the club, friends and relatives to a reprise of Forever Young by vocalist Annie Neil and the Bob Patient House Band, and to well-deserved applause from those who had gathered to pay their respects. Amid remenicences, handshakes and condolences, the wake began. Food was provided by the Charles Hotel and drinks by the Perth Blues Club. The musicians took to the stage for what promised to be a night of celebration of Rosco's life and his time at the club. One after another, they paid homage through their music. The night rolled on with spots by Trevor Jalla, Billy Blissett, Simon Cox, Gary Cox. Many others were lining up to play their spot when suddenly the room was plunged into darkness - the power had been cut. Amid the confusion, many laughed as they remembered Rosco's infamous closing time call "Drink up. pack up and f*** off!". It transpired that a ute had struck a main power pole on Wanneroo Road, just near the Charles Hotel. Maybe Rosco just wanted to rest. R.I.P Rosco, 1947-2008
