Probably Europe's No.1 blues export and one of the top blues and roots musicians worldwide, Hans is embarking on a 30-date solo tour of Australia and New Zealand in the new year to promote his latest CD, Slow Train. Hans has entertained audiences around the globe during a musical career that spans over more than 35 years and shared the stage with the likes of Bo Diddley, Taj Mahal, Ronnie Wood, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Albert Lee, Eric Bibb and many many more. Bo Diddley called him "One helluva guitar player". Press critics, all over the world, have praised his concerts and albums and generally regard him as one of the leading white blues-singers/guitarists. The world's leading bluespaper - US magazine Blues Revue wrote: "Hans Theessink is an international blues treasure. He is one of the world's pre-eminent country pickers and his warm baritone expresses blues". Hans is also a prolific songwriter. In the early sixties, Hans had his first meeting with "The Blues" - a radioshow, featuring Big Bill Broonzy and Leadbelly, which was to leave a deep and lasting impression on him. He began to get obsessed with the sounds and emotional richness of rural country-blues, and slowly he began to master the blues guitar (no books, no videos, no teachers). Hans has a deep respect for the old masters, but unlike many others, does not make the mistake of becoming a copyist. He is an exploratory improviser who likes to blend musical ideas, often coupled with contemporary songs that reflect on the world today. Hans has become one of the most sought-after live performing artists of the international blues scene. He’s played around the globe at festivals, clubs and on numerous radio and tv shows, and will most likely continue to do so as long as there’s an audience out there. General Entry Tickets will be available shortly through Ticketmaster. Perth Blues Club members will be able to purchase their tickets at the club. |

When Dutchman Hans Theessink takes the stage at the Perth Blues Club on Tuesday 4 March 2008, it will be his only gig in Western Australia, and it should not be missed by any self-respecting blues fan.
