This year's show features Kat Kinlay, Annie Neil, Alida Wright, Kelly Hoperton and Pascale & Ben Clark, all backed by the Bob Patient house band. Kat Kinley started her musical career playing classical piano, which got her into The WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She then changed to jazz vocals, which, she asys, got her nowhere. However, her music is influenced by both these genres as well as country, funk, blues & pop to create her own sound. Vocalist and WAAPA lecturer Annie Neil was the female lead in the rock musical Hair in Australia and New Zealand and was the female lead in the London Production of Jesus Christ Superstar. She had a number one hit with her own group Fancy in the USA and has worked as a backing vocalist for Denis Waterman (soundtrack of Minder), Charles Aznavour, Roger Daltry, Jack Bruce, Sheena Easton and a multitude of others. Alida Wright is an exciting vocalist and another bright star to emerge from the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. Hailing from outback New South Wales, her style is a predominantly bluesy, soulful lament, but encompasses everything from jazz to gospel, funk and beyond. Her warm rich tone lends itself well to jazz and when her powerhouse vocals are unleashed. However, Alida is in her element when singing the blues. Pascale and Ben Clark. Parisian born and bred chanteuse Pascale, with her delicious and sultry vocals is a powerful and passionate performer, bringing to life the vibrancy of 1950s Paris. Since arriving in WA, Pascale has performed at Perth's leading festivals and venues, with her live performance always a show stopper. |
