Hi Visitor

How the years fly by when you're having such great nights at the Perth Blues Club. The Birthday Party, our 19th, is almost upon us, but before then we have the Annual General Meeting, and this eNewsletter gives you official notice of that important night (full details below).

In the meantime, here's a little of what's coming up over the next couple of weeks.

Cyclone Tracee records a live CD @ the PBC - Tuesday 9 August

Step back all you faint at heart. The queen of good time Rock'n Rhythm and Blues, 'Cyclone' Tracee Morrison returns to the Perth Blues Club for one night only to record a live album.

Tracee will be performing with her with her favourite musicians, Bob patient, Dave Brewer, Ric Eastman, Roy Daniel and special guest Sue Bluck on keyboard and vocal. Come down to the club and be part of the live audience.

Awesome night ahead - Tuesday 16 August

On Tuesday 16 August we present two great bands and an equally great solo artist.

Opening the night is Kenji Katsuri, who has proved himself a subtle yet dynamic presence on the local live scene, gigging with Michael Vdelli and playing his own jaw-dropping shows.

Our main band is Awsome Wells, featuring local legend Lindsay Wells. This is another prominent Perth guitarist with an equally prominent pedigree. The list of bands Lindsay has featured in include: ‘The Bakery’, ‘Healing Force’, ‘Fatty Lumpkin’, ‘BlackFeather’, ‘Rene Geyer and Sanctuary’, ‘Sneakers’, ‘Feet First’, ‘Jazz with the Lindsay Wells Quintet’ and now 'The Awesome Wells Band', in which he plays originals and some of the older style blues to provide the variety that has sculptured our music scene. Completing the band are Bob Geaves on bass and Rob Leach on drums.

And to round off the night with a blazing tribute to the one and only Stevie Ray Vaughn is Cuatro Tortillas.

After the AGM we will celebrate the year by partying with special guests Indigo Duck and Resonator.

Entry for the night will be free for members that attend the AGM. Normal entry fee will apply from 7.30pm so be there early.

Two good reasons to party

There’s every reason to celebrate on Tuesday 6 September.

The Perth Blues Club Birthday Party is one of the highlights of the year and this year, not only are we celebrating 19 years of existence - just one small step closer to that big 20 - but President Rick Steele has taken a bite and brought together the original ingredients of the legendary Hot Biscuit Band for a short reunion tour.

This band of veteran players, featuring Rick on guitar with Marc Gordon and Richie Pavledis, produces with a mix of blues and laid-back country rock, that manages to cultivate a definitive Australian imagery with its music, rather than merely reproducing American roots music.

The band took its name from the legendary "King Biscuit Time" radio show, which brought music to generations of black Americans throughout the Mississippi Delta and beyond, spawning the career of BB King, among others and often cited as the birthplace of rock'n'roll.

So come along and be part of the party with Hot Biscuit Band, supported by Deja Blu and the PBC House Band with special guests.

PS: The re-united 2011 band will also play a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctor at the Scarborough Sportsman Club on Friday 9 September with special guests Dave Gillam and Paul Fitton. Tickets from the PBC shop and Scarborough Sportman Club.

Support Your Club

We mentioned above how the prizes keep coming for our Winter Fundraiser, but it's no good having prizes if we don't sell all the tickets. So we're calling on all members and club regulars, to take a book or two (or more) of tickets and sell them to your friends, family and work colleagues.

Tickets are only $2 each (or $20 for a book of 10) and we're aiming to sell 2,000. Let's see if we can hit the target and make this Winter Fundraiser a big success.

Help us to help you.
