As part of the Perth Blues Club’s 20th anniversary celebrations, we proudly announce the production of the first live recorded CD/DVD of all original songs - blues songs written, performed, recorded and produced by PBC member musicians, industry professionals and volunteers. We believe this is a world first.
The theme of 'Steel Blues' has been chosen to help forge a solid reputation in the wider blues music scene, and to help secure our Club’s reputation as the best volunteer-run blues club in the southern hemisphere.
All the Club’s member composers have the opportunity to take up the challenge of writing blues songs to the theme 'Steel Blues' (with the sub-theme being ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ in WA). To demonstrate the quality of live performances at the Club, all songs will be recorded in live-performance at future Club events with audience participation being a feature of the CD/DVD.
Members interested in the project are encouraged to join this exciting project. The camaraderie and the sheer fun of pursuing an exciting future direction for the Club will be most rewarding.
Anyone wanting to be a Steel Blues Project volunteer can simply contact one of the committee members on any Tuesday night. However, to take part you must be a fully paid member of the Perth Blues Club.
Throughout the year, we will make progress announcements about the project, here on the website, on facebook and e-mails direct to members.
The emphasis will be on quality. The Club will not release the CD/DVD unless it reflects the high quality and performance standards set by the Club.
We will use a ‘pledge marketing’ approach to fund-raising to complete the project successfully. Members and other supporters are asked to ‘pledge’ to buy the project’s products before they produced. Club members will receive a range of Steel Blues products and offers long before they are made available to the general public.
Please consider pledging your to support the Steel Blues Project now!
The Perth Blues Club will also seek donations, grants, sponsorships, and ‘contributions-in-kind’ to fund the project to professional levels. If you feel you can contribute in any way, please contact us by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
