On Sunday 29 April, a healthy number of musicians and members watched as a new blues song - an anthem for the Perth Blues Club - was arranged, rehearsed and recorded before their eyes and ears in just two hours. Down at The Perth Blues Club is the third in a series of new blues songs created this way under the collective title of "The Raw Steel Sessions" - a new creative process initiated as part of the PBC's 20th Anniversary program.

Thanks to a generous donation from The Charles Hotel, and a fast turn-around by Mustang Duplications, a special limited edition of the song was burned, printed and packaged in 48 hours. This CD is now available for just $5 (while stocks last). This CD is a sure testament to the quality of the musicians who took part in this recording, as well as the two previous sessions.

There is no doubt that the PBC is blessed to have musicians of such quality in its membership ranks - and we thank them for embracing these iniatives and giving their time to make it work.

We'll have an mp3 track available here soon, but not before you've had time to buy one of the very special limited discs for just $5.00.

In the meantime, here are the lyrics and a list of those involved.

Down at The Perth Blues Club

Composed by: Roy Duncanson, Mike De Velta, Dave Gillam, Rik van der Velde

I said Hey, Hey, Hey ...

Hey babe!! Don't ya lay that line on me
Hey babe!! C'mon leave and and let me be
I'm off to the pub, gonna have some fun.
Goin’ down, down, down, to the Perth Blues Club
Take me down ... to my Blues Club

Hey boss, I've had it! Get off of my case!
Hey boss, I've had it! I'm outta of this place,
I'm off to the pub, gonna have some fun.
Goin’ down, down down, to the Perth Blues Club
Take me down ... to my Blues Club

There's a man that sings the blues and plays a mean guitar
While Mamma's wailing high to a straight 12 bar
Johnny plays piana, I hear the sax on high
Bring it all together, when you hear me.....you will hear me cry

Hey Babe!! Don't ya lay that line on me
Hey Babe!! C'mon leave and and let me be
I'm off to the pub, gonna have some fun.
Goin’ down, down, down, to the Perth Blues Club
Take me down ... to my Blues Club

[Solo]

Hey folks, gonna have the time o’ your life
Hey folks, forget all ya troubles and strife
Want have some fun, at the Charles again
Roll 'em out Chappy let the night begin
Roll 'em out ... let the night begin

There's a man that sings the blues and plays a mean guitar
While Mamma's wailing high to a straight 12 bar
Johnny plays piana, I hear the sax on high
Bring it all together, when you hear me.....you will hear me cry

Hey folks, gonna have the time o’ your life
Hey folks, forget all ya troubles and strife
Charlie Brown there in the corned in his favourite chair
Roscoe’s running round, he’s the boss around here
Take me down ... to my Blues Club

Hey babe!! Don't ya lay that line on me
Hey babe!! C'mon leave and and let me be
I'm off to the pub, gonna have some fun.
Goin’ down, down, down, to the Perth Blues Club
Take me down to my Blues Club
Goin’ down ... to my Blues Club
Take me down ... to the Perth Blues Club
