dd doodadies 72dpiDiamond Dave and the Doodaddies is a four-piece Chicago-style blues band featuring the red-hot guitar chops of Dave Brewer and the sensational harmonica playing of 'Diamond' Dave Billing, propelled by shuffle-master, Yugon Chobanoff and the fat upright bass grooves of Bob Thomson.

Billing masterfully demonstrates a full understanding of the many styles of the harmonica from the expressive acoustic approach to the driving amplified style. Using the chromatic harmonica, he has developed one of the most distinctive styles heard in Australia.

The band covers a solid selection of uplifting grooves including swinging shuffles, soul, boogaloo, cry-in-your-beer blues and more.

DD&theDD's will be supported by Ronnie Domp (8pm) and Whiskey Pockets (10pm)

BlueSHaddy 42-largeBlue Shaddy formed back in the late 1980s in the small Wheatbelt town of Kellerberrin - a place where wheat, sheep and flies are plentiful, and surprisingly enough for a small country town, it was also home to a number of working musicians, with whom Jim McClelland began gigging regularly at the age of 17.

Their amazing live shows have resulted in the four-piece being invited to play a host of major music festivals. While their recordings capture the raw, infectious energy and exuberance that is synonymous with Blue Shaddy.

A unique mix of world drumming and percussion, groove laden bass, acoustic and lap slide guitars, rhythmic harmonica and heartfelt vocals result in a true reflection of the exciting Blue Shaddy sound.

Blue Shaddy are: Neil (Jim) McClelland, guitar and vocals; Graham (Belly) McClelland, harmonica and percussion; Sandra McClelland on bass guitar; and Callum Kramer on drums.

Blue Shaddy have just released their fourth album 'Across the Road', an impressive batch of songs conveying strong expression of life in the moment. Diving deeper into the explorations of family/self and relationships, Jim returns to the electric guitar for a number of songs and some very tasty slide playing throughout the album which leaves you with a strong sense that Blue Shaddy have returned to their roots, but this time in a more mature and comfortable place with their songwriting.
You can experience all this band has to offer on May 28 at the PBC.

Blue Shaddy will be supported by Tom Fisher and the Layabouts (8pm) and Gary Cox Band (10pm)

Cliff LyntonCliff Lynton brings his band to the PBC on Tuesday 21 May for a brand new show featuring new original material and arrangements of classic blues songs.

"I have put together an amazing band to perform this material," says Cliff. "After the response of the last show this show will be a blast."

Expect to be taken on a journey with some fine playing from Cliff and band members Bill Blissett (keys), Ric Eastman (drums) and Bob Hawker (bass).

Cliff has toured extensively throughout Australia, UK and Europe, and among many gigs overseas has had the privilege of performing at the legendary Ronnie Scotts jazz club, and recording at the famous London Pye Studios; where Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Page, Chuck Berry & The Who recorded.

Regularly in demand as a session guitarist, Cliff has recorded and performed on numerous albums, TV shows and radio jingles - like fusion band Manteca, who Cliff as guitarist recorded a live-to-air 10 part series for the ABC, performed on the popular Surfing the Menu TV series and won 'Best Movie Score' for an award winning animated short film in '06.

Guitar clinician for Fender, Gibson, Paul Reed Smith, Ibanez, Boss and TC Electronics, Cliff knows his way around this instrument.

Toby1Energetic, raw and feisty are three words tell you everything you need to know about Australian roots artist Toby on stage.

She is power defined. Her voice has the potential to create a musical revolution. Toby is simply an incredible performer. That's not just referring to her powerful, sexy, awe-inspiring voice. Nor is it referring to her energetic, rocking, guitar work.

Over the past seven years Toby has performed nearly 1000 shows around the world mainly in Australia, Europe and Canada – nothing seems to stop this woman from touring. And she has also released five albums, two live DVDs and several EPs.

Her live shows are a deeply emotional and joyous experience. For Toby, she wears her emotions, thoughts and adventures on her sleeve as clearly as the delighted smile she sports while playing. It's that chemistry and connection – in between plenty of dancing and jumping from both sides – that makes each performance so strikingly unique and deliciously unpredictable.
Passionate and known for her unwavering commitment to her craft Toby is willing to take the risk and be vulnerable with her thoughts and emotions committed to song.

Toby's song writing skills are honed enough to make her radio-friendly, and her voice is naturally soulful, earthy and dynamic enough to appeal to all kinds of music fans. By not deviating from her fiercely independent origins, Toby keeps her music real and untamed as she criss-crosses the globe connecting with audiences, injecting them with the passion she feels for music and turning each performance into a memorable party.

"What sets Toby apart from other performers mining a similar vein is her infectious energy, a kind of worldly appreciation of life that makes even her most melancholy songs thrum with a kind of joyousness." - X-press Magazine (January 2011).

"It's a gifted singer-songwriter who is daring enough to remain this raw. It's the same reason why Toby's audience has found such a home in her music." - The West Australian (Sept 3 2010).

Toby is supported by Tumblin' Dice (8pm) and Tombstone Revival (10pm)
