The Grasshoppers

The Grasshopper have been Gigging around for the last ten years with few changes on the way.

Having two CDs under their belt and having sold nearly 2000 copies of their last Album "Taking You Home Tonight" in a very short time, the band is in recording mode with their next album to be released by Oct/Nov. The new album has a distinct inclusion of the lap-steel guitar in many songs and very acoustic oriented. It's something new … reggae with a blues influence and a touch of slide makes the sound really interesting. It also has a variation of genre's and can leave the listener with questions about the band's actual genre. Versatility is embedded in the songwriting, which has a way of getting the rhythm for the songs into the genre the song so deserves, so it can go rhythm n blues, reggae, shuffle or even rocky rhythm … it all depends.

Gun guitar player Ned Smith, son of drummer Andrew Smith, brings an amazing lift to the band with his skills. Playing really good blues at such an early age of 21 is mind boggling. He is constantly improving his craft and is bound to hit the big time soon. His humble attitude is easily noticed when you get to know him.

The band appears regularly Bar Orient and various other local venues, while the energetic and colourful front-man SilvaDee also performs solo and as duo called The Rhythm Bros with his brother playing blues and swamp slide in their act.

SilvaDee is presently ranked No 24 in acoustic in Australia on numberonemusic.com for his song "Burning Away" (about global warming). It is available on iTunes, Cdbaby, Amazon etc under the name Silvadee.
