Rupert Guenther Blues Band

A unique night of blues is on offer featuring the unusual music talent of electric violinist Rupert Guenther and his Blues Band. This show is a tribute to Rupert's deep love of the blues. Catch him playing slide on a gold-top electric violin with hard rocking ex-Dave Hole rhythm section: John McNair on bass, and Jim Stewart on drums.Rupert is a former sideman to the stars (including principal positions in the Vienna Chamber Opera, solo violin in Demis Roussos' band, and tours with Olivia Newton-John, John Farnham, and 'the fifth Beatle', famed producer Sir George Martin). His distinctive electric violin sound has featured in classical, ambient, rock, blues, and world music.His concerts include New York City, Mt Shasta, and Portland (USA), Tate Britain (London), the Guildhall Festival (London), Melbourne International Festival, Perth Winter Arts Festival, as well as tours of Sweden, Austria, Italy and Australia.His past musical collaborations include jazz piano legend Allan Zavod (Frank Zappa), percussionist David Jones (James Morrison), keyboardist Andrew Duffield (The Models), and many bar band gigs over a decade in Melbourne with players who were the musicians behind the sound of Procul Harum, Goanna, Rene Geyer, Little River Band, Kasey Chambers, Australian Crawl, Redgum and more.
