The Illegals

We're delighted to welcome back a relatively new local band The Illegals, who made their debut at the PBC way back in July last year.

Deriving the name in support of refugees in need, The illegals is a five-piece Rock and Blues Perth Hills based outfit formed in July 2016, winning the Blues Challenge Hills heat soon after and were runners up in the International Blues Challenge final held at the renowned Bridgetown Blues Festival, November 2016. The band has been playing gigs around Perth City (Spruce Goose, The Ellington) and the Hills ever since and represented the Hills Blues Club at the 25th Anniversary of Bridgetown Blues.

With a Blues, Country and Jazz flavours, singer Kyra Bee astounds audiences with her powerful vocal delivery. She joins rhythm guitarist Melanie Dius, who has studied Jazz for eight years and played in the Perth Hills Jazz Orchestra,, even supporting The Black Sorrows in Perth.

Gerald Ball’s smooth electrifying guitar licks complement the eclectic genres The illegals are known for. Jason Maxlow (bass guitar) and Bart Hayes (drums) form the tight rhythm section synonymous with The illegals and their second band – Two Dollar Dog.

With covers from Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B King, J.J. Cale, Beth Hart and Nat King Cole, plus some bluesy originals, you will be taken on an up-beat, soulful and mesmerising journey!
