A fresh crop of homegrown songs from WA’s Wheatbelt is about to be unleashed on the nation, with WAM today opening registrations for its newest regional compilation, Demos from the Wheatbelt; the first of nine new regional recording projects set to record an impressive 90 regional artists over the next three years! Seems Christmas has come early, with The McGowan Government today announcing a new $1 million open access grants program for Western Australia’s contemporary music artists. Opening next month, the grant program for the Contemporary Music Fund will assist WA artists and music industry professionals with producing and promoting their work, nationally and internationally. It will also aim to improve the representation of Aboriginal, regional, cultural and gender diverse music artists in the industry.
