Demos from The Wheatbelt Launch and first single preview
WA Music Launches Demos from The Wheatbelt Compilation 30th August at Cummins Theatre, Merredin. In March this year, ten artists from WA’s Wheatbelt region travelled to Merredin’s iconic Cummins Theatre to record their original songs. The fresh harvest of new tracks was recorded under the watchful ears of award winning producers Matt Gio, Dan Carroll and Andy Lawson. For some of the artists, it was first chance they’d had to set foot in a professional studio. WAM, in partnership with Healthway, is pleased to announce a series of free songwriting workshops at The Cannery in Esperance this July. The workshops present a unique opportunity for aspiring young song writers to develop their skills in writing and arranging under the guidance of members of local Esperance band Grand Casual. Taking place at Perth’s newest and most exciting live music venue, Freo.Social, the WAM Song of the Year, presented by Act-Belong-Commit has been taken out by Carla Geneve as the Overall Grand Prize winner for her song Greg’s Discount Chemist. Albany born singer-songwriter Carla Geneve burst onto the Perth music scene just a few years ago and quickly won over audience with her unique brand of honest raw indie rock with a splash of folk inspiration.
