Toni Swain and her band visit the Perth Blues Club on Tuesday 20 March as part of their WA Tour.

Toni listened to her Dad’s band (Swan City Jazzband) in Perth as a young child, danced and sang along to the vinyl collection at home – Joni, Ella, Stevie, Etta, Michael, Donny, rock n roll, country, pop, soul; an eclectic mix that influenced her song writing from the beginning.

Toni wrote her first tune aged 11,  laying down drums, piano, vocals and guitar using two cassette decks. At 13 she was busking in Hay Street Mall, confident enough in her songs to sing them loudly to the world. At 19 she was on the road with a rock opera band, touring the eastern coast. A life time of live shows, touring and recording followed in Australia and overseas. She has produced three albums and three EPs to date.

Major shows played recently include Echuca Blues, Devonport Jazz, Auckland Jazz and Blues festivals, and the band has been confirmed to play Broadbeach Blues, Wangaratta Jazz, and New Zealands Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues festivals this year.

Rhythms Magazine describes Toni’s music as “a glorious fusion of blues, r & b, soul and jazz….it defies categorization”. There is a sophistication in her original compositions, always delivered with style and panache, and that incredible voice! Toni is renowned for her intense, moving, live performances.

Toni’s touring band features the impressive Roy Payne on guitar (Don Walker band), Mike Rix double bass (Bridie King), with Perth drummer Garry Howard (The Mixtures) and blues royalty Bob Patient on keys.

Hussy Hicks last appeared at the PBC after Bridgetown 2017 and now they're back !

There are dozens of words that can describe the music of the Hussy Hicks - passionate, spontaneous, exuberant, emotive, intricate, explosive and fun spring to mind, but there is nothing that can adequately describe the feeling that swells in the heart of their audience during a live performance.

It's that inexplicable magic that has swept these two girls from the small town pub where they first met on a journey that has spread their unique acoustic music across the globe and seen them perform on some of the most prestigious venue and festival stages across Europe, China, America, the Middle East and their home country of Australia.

Julz Parker's eclectic approach to the acoustic guitar, initially inspired by her dad's extensive blues record collection, is rooted in the Emmanuel-esque tradition then inspired by Spanish streets, European gypsies and Arabic intricacies and has been celebrated by guitar enthusiasts all around the world.

Leesa Gentz is most recognised for her soaring vocals, endearing stage presence and her ability to express her deepest emotions in every song. Their set touches upon funk-gypsy through folk/country to high energy blues/roots and with their harmonies and intense rhythms they pump out a heck of a lot of sound for two small girls.

Don't miss this high-energy duo - they'll blow your socks off !!

Hussy Hicks will be supported by Rupert Guenther (7.30pm) and Craig James & the DB Brothers (10pm)

ENTRY: $15 / $10 (Members) at the Door
