When we say Rhythm and Blues we don't mean the modern day music genre that now carries this label.

We're talking about the combined elements of jazz, gospel music and the blues that created a very personalized form of melody and rhythm which has become known as one of the outstanding styles of American music from the 50's and 60's. That's what the Big Town Players mean when they say real ‘Rhythm and Blues’!

The BTP’s repertoire includes classic R&B hits from bands like the Meters, with 'Ride Your Pony' and 'Shotgun' by the great Junior Walker. They sit alongside blues favourites like Sonnyboy Williamson's 'Help Me' and Taj Mahal's 'She Caught the Katie'.

But no matter what they play it is always dance-able and fun!

Big Town Players will be supported by Ora (featuring Maera Paki).

Entry: $20.00 (General Admission) | $10.00 (Members).

Escaping from the smoking wreck of the widely and critically acclaimed Dude Ranch, Lucky Oceans (world renowned steel guitarist, and by now button accordionist) approached Bill Rogers (vocals, sax and harmonica) about starting a band to play some Zydeco. With ex-Dude Ranch guitarist/vocalist & Rock and Roll encyclopedia Kent Hughes involved, this trio began to rehearse while they searched for both repertoire and rhythm section.

From the start, the idea was to combine Zydeco with 'Cat' music - swing, jump blues and rockabilly, plus any other style that suited the line-up, including rock and roll, country blues, soul, R&B, Cajun and New Orleans R&B, plus a handful of Lucky's and Kent's own songs from the Dude Ranch song book. That was 1992 and the Zydecats were born.

Zydecats will be supported by The Simon Cox Duo (7.30pm) and Steve Rae Band (9.45pm).

ENTRY: $20.00 (General Admission) | $10.00 (Members).

Bloozology formed in 2007 as The McCowat - Nelson Blues Band, changing its name to the much-easier-to-remember moniker in 2010.

The current line-up has been together since 2012 and features Allan Lyford (bass and vocals), Alan McCowat (guitar and vocals), Paul Millard (saxes), Vince Pavitt (drums) and Tony Celiberti (keyboards). These are some of Perth’s most experienced and highly-respected musicians who pride themselves on exploring all facets of the blues.

Bloozology is supported by The Western Suntones (7.30pm) and Dr John & the Midnight Jammers (9.45pm).
